Dr. Buonopane is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She obtained her degree in Psychiatry and her Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine. She has been working in private practice for 10 years and worked in a variety of clinical, administrative, and supervisory settings. Dr. Buonopane served as Chief of Psychiatry at High Watch Recovery Center, Kent, CT, and worked as Director of Addiction Services at Silver Hill Hospital, New Canaan, CT. She was Medical Director at the Apt Foundation, New Haven, CT, and she won an Award in Excellence as a supervisor at Yale University.
Dr. Buonopane sees patients with psychiatric illnesses or/and addiction disorders (dual diagnosis). Dr. Buonopane has been a strong advocate for dual diagnosis treatment for over 20 years. She provides medication assisted treatment (MAT) and practices evidence-based medicine.

Dr. Buonopane believes in spending time listening to patients and relieving suffering with empathic and professional care, administered in partnership with patients. Dr. Buonopane received the Compassionate Doctor Recognition (Vitals, 2018) and the Patient’s Choice Awards (Vitals, 2018).

My realization from working with mental health and addiction chronic pain plays an enormous role in my patients’ quality of life. I combine my knowledge with strict protocols to keep my patients free of pain without the stigma of addiction through collaboration with all health professionals involved in their care. Addiction treatments with Suboxone, Sublocade (monthly Suboxone injection), Vivitrol Injection (Naltrexone). Treatment for withdrawal symptoms (Lucemyra). Medically supervised conversion Methadone to Suboxone or complete taper to Naltrexone/Vivitrol. Slow Benzodiazepine taper and alcohol treatment. In addition, we have a full staff of therapists in house.
